IIDD, Moondance: Tuesday, October 23rd

The worst kind of people are those who confuse kindness for weakness. -Werner Makowski, banker (b. 1929)

Israeli inventor Izhar Gafni says his bicycle, made almost entirely of cardboard, has the potential to change transportation habits from the world's most congested cities to the poorest reaches of Africa.
 Cool bike 8^) cheers, Mark:

Hi Mark,

That was awesome! I love people who think outside of the box (P.T.P.) Very inspirational!! Thanks! Al

Hi Marcus Aurelius!

Although I had seen some of this beforehand, I agree it is quite a cycling development! Given what I paid for my Madone carbon fibre, I could have purchased 250 cardboard bikes and probably still come out ahead. Simply recycle them when they get too soggy after a rainfall or two and never have to worry about maintenance bills. Probably lighter as well. Might have to avoid hills, however, as I doubt there are many gears. Latte crowd would love this aspect of it! Probably should market it as The Carboard Coffee  Cycle for Leisure Latte Loafers, Laggards, Louts and Layabouts! Cheers, Il Conduttore!

PS: Now that I think quickly about the NRBC, could I borrow your copy of

P,

I have Mark’s BPL copy which I understand is due now -- unless Mark managed to renew it somehow…?

My VPL copy just arrived at VPL. You can have that copy when I am finished un-reading it. W

Hi Lads!

Thanks for update on next book. With respect to tonight's sippage, is Marcus Aurelius joining us? Weather doesn't look too, too wet. I'm prepared to ride so if you want to come by the Heartbreak Terrace at around 7:45pm and we could wend our way to the Electric Owl and be there in plenty of time. What think you? Cheers, Il Conduttore!

Cycling Quickly, Sipping Slowly, Reading Never -- NRBC Motto!

P, Let’s ride, yes. 7:45 at the HBT. W

Please note: I will be out of the office as of October 15th, returning to the office October 23th, 2012.The week of Oct. 22-26th, I am also involved with a conference, and will not be scheduling apppointments in addition to the ones I already have.  Thank you, cheers colin.

Priceless – Moses, meet Steve …he’s going to upgrade your tablets…

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's android devices!!!

George, pat
My copy is (technically) due on Friday. I have no concerns about handing it in on Monday after the NRBC session. Unless a ride opportunity occurs before then for an exchange, it's not worth the 90cents in fines for a special trip...8^)

Pat,

I will bring it by the HBT this evening. I don’t think (fast) you will have any problem getting thru it before Monday…W

Hi Patrick,

At the moment we are feeling our way with face book and being a conservative in terms of technology we are getting a gen Z over to help set up security and all that stuff to stop viruses and whatever else goes wrong with these things. I am now into my third week of actual retirement and still trying to adjust. My part time job seems to be working out OK and it seems the organisation I have been dealing with is expanding its operations and has asked if I will do training sessions for them on Saturdays and of an evening. I now have to make sure I actually don’t take on too much. Still it does keep one involved and the mind sharp I am also in the process of organising the meeting with the Maritime Museum to see about volunteering that’s the trouble with being an “A” type personality you have to be into something all good fun though. Claire is in Melbourne this week and I am heading down there tomorrow to catch up with her and visit my mum and bother so should be good. She is still contemplating what she wants to do and it looks like retirement for her in about March or April it all rather depends on the program she is delivering, she has also turned into a yoga nut 4 or 5 times a week she is loving it. I just drink and ride the bike occasionally.

I noticed you are off to Cornwall next year doing a house swap let us know when. Claire has a relatives in Cornwall and if we can swing it we might visit them and catch up with you both at the same time as part of a grander plan we haven’t worked out yet.
When I get the whole face book thing clear in my mind we will use it ore often. Cheers Greg and Claire

Hi Big Al!

How is Cheryl's Aviva project doing? Cheers, Patrizzio!

Not enough votes to make it to round 2.

Hi Big Al!

Sorry to hear about Cheryl's AVIVA not doing so well. I voted at least five or six times in the First Round! Sounds as if you need a touch of humour to cheers yourselves up. Sent THE GYNECOLOGIST WHO BECAME A MECHANIC to my friend who is a gynecologist!

Thanks, I'll just stare at them longingly and...

Thanks, I'll just stare at them longingly and try to imagine that I'm the one eating them!

Great attitude! A positive outlook in the face of adversity!! Will probably start with porcupine meatballs and then move on to Yorkshire pudding. Will send the video!!! Cheers, Uncle Patrizzio!

Hi Grogg and Claire de la Lune!

Congratulations on retirement!
We plan to be in Cornwall in July/August. Dates not set in stone yet but it would be more than a delight to see you both there, if it works out! This past Sunday evening we hosted a dinner for the neighbours of the couple we will be doing a house exchange with. Gudrun and Stephen, (Cornish neighbours), are here visiting their son, Mark, the husband of Krissy, of Gayle and Derek, (house exchange people), and that night was only time we could all get together. Flamin' and Sarge were up as well so it was a very jolly time!

Just had a message from Jenne Roberts in Darwin so will be replying to her shortly. Has Claire been working with her of late? Buona Fortuna with Facebook. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hey Patrick,

Don't know if you managed to find yourself a helmet but I was going through old quotes in our system and you popped up as being interested in the Savant in a size small in the charcoal colour. We do have those back in stock as well as one in the silver/grey colour if you wanted to swing by and check 'em out! If you have found yourself another helmet (it's been awhile, sorry!), just give us a reply to say so in order to ensure that we cancel your quote and not contact you over and over when new product comes in.

Thanks and talk soon! Linnaea
